My name is Sadia, and I am a transfer student from Sac State. This is my first semester at San Jose State, and I'm really looking forward to it. I completed my General Education in Sacramento, and decided on finally entering the world of Journalism. I researched different programs in the California State University system, and was very impressed with San Jose's, not to mention I grew up just twenty minutes away from here (Fremont). I must say it's nice to be back in the bay area.
I changed my major about three times before I was absolutely sure of what I wanted to do. I've always been a writer and artist. I love to express my thoughts through words. For me, it's the ultimate form of meditation. Not only that, but words can truly move people. Any art form will do that, but for me, it has always been about the words. I've learned that college never was and never will be for money. People often ask me what I'm studying and immediately, they are waiting to hear what profession I have chosen. They never quite understand that the path is more important to me than where my income will be coming from. College prepares you for more than just getting a job. I'm glad I chose this route for the right reasons.
As far as media goes, I'm interested in all sects. Of course, I am drawn to entertainment. I know just about everything there is to know about celebrities, it's actually pretty embarrassing. Because of this however, I want to study more about what is taking place all over the world, from what is going on in our communities to how people are living in different countries. What I really want out of this field is as much knowledge as I can get about the world we live in. I feel like I don't know enough about what is going on, and that I'm enclosed in this small space we call normalcy. I'd really love to travel and document what I come across. Life is too short and too amazing not to see what else is out there, and I have always been fascinated by documentaries. I'm new to the world of media, but I feel like I'm ready for the journey I am about to embark on. Wish me luck!
